Murderously good

"Woo-hoo" was my first thought when I heard the new Killers record. Like the rousing start of the eponymous opening track of "Sam's Town" is a welcome and shows where the direction goes namely up - to the top of the rock Olympus! Razor-sharp guitars, elegiac melodies and the vocals, which moves between coolness and despair. Everything was wonderful voices! The lyrics, which are neither profound or sophisticated, nor particularly long though, pull the listener the same captivated. Thus we read in Enterlude "We hope you'll enjoy your stay - it's good to have you with us - even if it's just for the day / We hope you'll enjoy your stay - outside the sun is shining - seems like Heaven's Not far away ".

And how to enjoy the stay in the desert town of "Sam's Town" (Las Vegas)! The absolute highlight of the disc is "When You Were Young", which appropriately enough, the first single was the same. For me so far the mitressendste and best song in 2006! The song "Bling" and "Read My Mind" come along in the '80s costume, where they are never ingratiating or intrusive - rather, it permeates a danceable melancholy. The dirty dahingerotzte "Uncle Johnny" is reminiscent of the early Velvet Underground songs and shows another facet of Killers-cosmos. The final "Exitlude" the motif of "Enterlude" resumes and the Killers goodbye in the choir of her audience.

And you can think of singer Brandon Flowers what you want: Although he hates the press ("music journalists are all assholes", Brandon Flowers) but he loves his audience! Was the debut album by the Killers still too cluttered and wanted casual, show with "Sam's Town", that pomp and broad musical accoutrement absolutely can bring suitable to the point - very big rock cinema! And for those who were disappointed by Muse and Morrissey in 2006 - the perfect alternative! Full marks without compromising!
