"50 Years of American Cinema" is my bible !!! I bought it are 6 or 7 years, and it is hardly a single week passes without my consults. In the first part, Tavernier and Coursodon fly over the few top 15 films each year between 1945 and 1993. In the second part, they engage in a genuine study of major American writers and directors. It is a simply amazing job! And unlike the movie dictionaries, they really give their opinions sometimes explaining that they have differing opinions on certain works. This work enabled me to discover masterpieces such as "Gilda" by Charles Vidor, "Double Indemnity" Billy Wilder, or "Straw Dogs" Sam Peckinpah ... Extraordinary!
