Yesterday I 2 batteries run shot, landscapes, facades, sculptures and flowers at close range. The Results:
* The sharpness is excellent throughout the entire field even at full aperture!
* The CA is really fixed in this lens excellent, very high contrast in the corners (eg overexposed sky between a canopy) show no CA - respect! At maximum aperture show thin line-like structures on overexposed reason the edges very slight bluish glare, but already from f / 4 this effect is virtually gone.
* The distortion is small enough to not interfere noticed (ok, no different to be expected in the fairly long focal length of 60 mm).
* The vignetting (according to Sigma datasheet: one stop at f / 2.8, f / 5.6 practical way) is not struck me uncomfortable in the images taken at maximum aperture and f / 4, in pictures of a white wall is at least at f / 2.8 a brighter central plateau identify (smaller than the short side of the image, not looks so pretty), f / 4 looks ok.
* The Bokeh I find enjoyable. At maximum aperture, but even at f / 4 or f / 5.6 the subject really can be great from the foreground and background "disconnect".
* Flaring: I now have not explicitly tested. I do not in any case have not been disruptive in the way, even in scenes with a high contrast ratio. If you move a bright light source through the image, can be only a very weak reflective account, roughly on a par with my Rodenstock 50mm Tessar. Based on current information, I would say: very good!
* Close distance: This is not a macro lens, but it comes close enough to sometimes scan a few flowers up close. The sharpness is great even at close range.
* Autofocus:. Works well, not a lot of back and forth (For technical reasons, rattling the lens in the off state, the same as in the 30s 19er +). I have the AF but often off, with complex designs I do it manually instead. The manual focus works fine, you can see the enlarged viewfinder image correctly, what is the image quality: the By focusing the selected cutout falls abruptly in the focal plane - but with a bit of sensitivity can be to focus accurately anyway.
Summary: The photos yesterday gave me real joy, did the photo session only ended when the second battery was empty. In my opinion, really a top lens, the best optics in the NEX series of Sigma, perhaps the best that can be got at all to current lenses for NEX. (A selection of pictures I have uploaded to my Flickr Accont. For Flickr users "anti planet 'visit, then the album" Review Sigma 60mm "). Finally, a request to Sigma: the transition to the "ART" -Erscheinungsbild has probably not changed the optical structure - no redesign is there conceivable? If the 60 SLD glass is used and such a thing can be put on the market for EUR 200, then it would have given the smaller lens elements of the 19er and 30s but also be possible to do something against the CA?
