Two weeks of employment do not replace long-term experience, but so far I can not say anything negative about the device. The system is fast and so far I could make everything that came to my mind even though one or the other detour was necessary, but the operating system for which nothing could. My application had been:
- The tile screen: colorful, useful and also fun because ever that moves
- Telephoning: The sound is good, if a little dull and the volume sufficient
- Write SMS: typing on the onscreen keyboard is without frequent mistype possible replace / complement the words go, but the expand the dictionary I have not yet figured out - self-employed, the system remembers jedenfals not häufg written words
- Surfing: in the WLAN as the mobile network goes satisfy fast
- Office document: xls, doc - easily upload and take, but there are restrictions on the use, if you want to enter things is navigating the document for Puzzle.
- Print documents: I have an HP printer on the network and for that I have installed my app from HP. It has taken me some time to bring the app to find the printer on the network, the IP address enter namely does not go, that would be too easy. Then as the APP has finally showed me the printer, the eureka moment came what the app can not be printed. But scanning is. However, if you save the scanned document, it disappears into the Nirvana. Applause for HP at this point. Have interim solved with the ePrint service HP the problem. I think it's a great idea to send documents to print through the internetwork.
- Integration into the LAN: Unfortunately, I am forced by Apple's development of OSX 10.6.8 are on to stay for an upgrade I would have to first make investments because I have a heterogeneous network in which depend not only Macs, and I was still at the moment a few hardware do not know if it is not sustainable to kick out the Macs. I write so in detail here, because I have so far no apps that goes along with OSX 10.6.8. You can make the transfer file with Bluetooth or using a Windows computer, there goes smoothly.
- Navigation: I just played a little bit with it. Finding the site is swiftly felt faster than with many a Car Navi. The proposed routes are useful, I just have not figured out how I tell the app that it always should display the pedestrian routes to me - I do not use it that is in the car.
- Whatsapp: I believe yes that reason alone you need a smart phone :) (even if this realization has taken me longer)
- Photos: Well, so far as I could do without it to photograph the phone - for which I have a camera - I thought the feature will not inspire me. What can I say, the phone I usually going Selfies is to make a no brainer that sharen via Whatsapp goes ruckzuck and I now let the camera more at home when the concern is only eV. To make snapshots. The results are ok, although the exposure in the default setting is rather moderate. As far as I could compare it to date, the results are quite the leaders in the smartphone photos, but not best in class.
- Kindle: I thought I install the Kindle app to see if this can be to use. And contrary to expectations to have access to the books and quickly be able to read through again what is not so bad if you have not just the eBook readers here.
What I have noticed
- Power supply: I have most of the time everything turned what communication is and I'm just so 7-8h without charging station to make ends meet. It seems to me a little telephone and surf reduces the battery power fast times in half.
- Files on Phone see: it requires an app from Microsoft called the file is not installed by default (for that there are enough Klumpert the one does not need and can delete)
- No support ICE: when the phone is locked with a PIN, you do not have access to the ICE contacts, or you as ICE mark no no contacts contacts. Wanted so already bring a star to withdraw, but I assume that that is rectified and yet the joy of the device is so great that I tend to generosity in the evaluation. But for those who see this as a mandatory criterion, which is a clear no-go.
- Size: It's a bit of a brick, the unit, and I had to get used to it. But the screen is also large enough for my previous applications.
In summary: In my view, this Lumia is a fast device with sufficient memory. Windows Phone 8.1 is an intuitive operating system with discreet fun factor. In a short time available and easy to use. A little annoying, perhaps, that some manufacturers App Windows Phone ignore yet, I could but, as described above, find workarounds, so I see no significant disadvantage in. Therefore, I give the unit 5 stars.
