I have always been tempted to read Watchmen but I had never taken the plunge. Then the Urban Comics emerged in January, I decided and I buy it. But the months passed and I still can not decide. He will have had a friend asks me to lend him for me to decide. Being slow to make loans I say I'm going to read it before. And there! A revelation or rather an illumination. I finally opened my eyes. I'm so caught up in the story, the characters, through the fascinating world that can offer me that I did not sleep the night to read it in one sitting.
I admit I was a little difficult to get into it. I have read a chapter of a chapter and a half before diving into the Moore story. First aback by articles that slip between chapters. Before finally understand all the ingenuity of how to write Watchmen by Alan Moore. Everything is connected! At first one is baffled by these passages cock to the ass these passages from one era to another. In the end we realize that a whole world, a whole new world is set up as if nothing had happened.
Each chapters could be read as independent stories with a backdrop of the Rorschach investigation.
All figures are worked in different ways to make all interesting and important. We learn things about their past, their family, their motivation, their doubt, everything goes and ultimately these superheroes seem to us mere humans, they are in the final.
And small interludes between each chapter allow us to learn even more about them, and gives even more credibility to Moore's story.
Also big fan of his writing. Whether it is the dialogues, thoughts of Rorschach, the narrative just rings and picnic where you need it. A real leader Doeuvre.
The other big positive after the imagination of Watchmen by Alan Moore, is talent Gibbons! How beautiful.
Our heroes we feel the feelings through his pencil strokes. It is fluid, well paced. So mastered! It makes me want to discover other works of the gentleman. The line is fine, the boxes are full and beautiful. A dune rare subtlety graphics (cutting depth, past squares recalling the first)
In short, closing this beautiful paved, we say we have just read something important, something good, something which through the years has left, leaves and will leave an indelible mark in the world of comics, of comics. More so this work stands on its own. She is so full so successful that one can sinterroger on the interest of a Before Watchmen, but then this is another debate.
Evidence of the complexity and depth of history Dalan Moore, this is quaprès replay, I already read back once since, we discover new aspects unnoticed at first reading. There's so much to assimilate.
This is a major work that Urban Comics republished us in a wonderful version, both in terms of translation, presentation that included bonuses (a real gold mine of information).
Urban thank you for making me discover Watchmen!
