Decisive for the purchase were the following features:
- The decoding of new sound formats "Dolby True HD" and "DTS Master Audio".
- Two HDMI 1.3 outputs to the parallel port of a TV and a projector.
- The smallest possible Gehäusebautiefe order to have enough space for connecting cable in my hi-fi rack.
- And narürlich as well as excellent properties.
With my Denon AVR-3802 I was sonically always very satisfied.
His warmth in the fundamental range and its balance enticed me,
especially when listening to music, on a regular basis to eye closure and enjoy.
From the excellent sound of Marantz products I had only heard.
The more sobering fell my first listening experiences from after replacing the equipment.
The SR8002 sounded detailed and finely dynamic than the AVR-3802nd
But I missed the balance and naturalness, which especially at elevated volume
allows easy listening for an extended period.
Well, I thought! Perhaps the new AV receiver really need to import only.
Now a year has passed, but in my own experience has been my feeling, unfortunately, nothing changed.
Now I was almost ready to take my old Denon AVR-3802 back into operation.
This would, however, means to dispense with the new features such as HD audio formats, HDMI ports, etc..
Last weekend was for me then the solution to the problem.
I do not know if it was coincidence or despair that moved me to the "Source Direct" button not only in stereo mode,
but also in the surround modes Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby True HD, DTS Master Audio, etc. to press.
But this little button resulted in the balanced, natural, dynamic and still detailed sound,
I had always wanted so much to me of this masterpiece of engineering.
Although the display of the SR8002 is now only "Source Direct" and no longer "Dolby True HD", etc.,
but I can live with. I am perfectly happy with my SR8002.
In my opinion, the SR8002 reproduced in standard mode not linear frequency response,
but amplifies frequencies around 4000 Hz to produce a particularly superficial and detailed sound field.
This 3 dB peak we find the way back and after calibration in the Acoustic EQ modes Flat and Audyssey.
Only switching to the Source Direct mode leads to a linear and thus balanced frequency response.
Maybe my experience will benefit others in search of the perfect sound on!
The current market price of the SR8002 is almost a Shnäppchen!
