I looked around for a really multi-bay NAS, as I wanted to have mirrored my important data. But then I'm on this HP MicroServer tripped the part even is much cheaper than current Synology (etc ...) NAS systems. Without further ado, I ordered these and equipped with Windows Home Server 2011. I have to say the thing runs perfectly, very quiet and the build quality is absolutely top. I still can not really believe this to have been given a full server for good 200 euros and then in this quality. The 2GB of RAM I have not extended my fully sufficient for network shares and smaller activities on the server. Stream videos (MKV) works to 720p on the Xbox 360 very good. Only the 1080p jerky because the server CPU but a bit overwhelmed (CPU at 80-90%) is thus re Converter animals 1080p video for the Xbox on the fly. But as I can anyway streame the play on my Poppstar media player the videos in their original state, ie without powering down the server umkonvertieren the video format before, I do this for nothing. WHS2011 I can only emfpehlen, through the Dashboard is the share files and manage users, and set up software RAID easy and self-explanatory. One can even take example of a 300GB 500GB hard drive, then more of a 2TB hard drive 300GB and 300GB this as RAID 1 (mirror) setup. Take the rest of the 500 200GB disk for the Windows installation and the rest of ~ 1,7TB of the 2TB hard drive as a unmirrored storage. So I did it anyway. Power consumption with 4 HDDs in Idle ~ 31Watt under load no more than 38Watt. So what you need a dedicated NAS again? : D
