Hip Hop Is Dead (Audio CD)

Customer Review

One of the most telling HipHop albums for a long time. Aside from the music, the cover image speaks for itself ever. HipHop profound for those who do not want Comerz rap, but what hip hop really is! - The deepest and most emotional music in the world! (In my opinion)

My Favorite Files: 7, 8, 10, 11, 12

Here's my personal evaluation:

01. Money Over Bullshit (5 Stars)

A gloomy Beat with deep piano, organ and strings in the background. The high short harmonious with piano is also good. Cool effects with pipes. The bass drum is booming! right in the stereo. Sounds very much like NAS_oldschool style. Hook could stand out from the rap still something more.

02. You Can not Kill Me (5 Stars)

an average hip-hop beat with short successive sounds that run through the whole song. For a change are various effects, such as computer sounds, from low to high and from high to low. In the hook beautiful strings are stored, thereby the Hook lifts off nicely from the rest. When fadeout at the end, you can listen to the beautiful interesting beat.

03. Carry On Tradition (5 Stars)

Similar to the song beforehand. Beat is kept simple, in the foreground are again so short consecutive loud and harmonious sounds that sound powerful at the end of a complete melody pass. The snare sounds cool to snapping with Clapz. Nas' rape are top notch again. The strings in the Hook make the hook back into something special.

04. Where Are They Now (3 stars)

The Raps are very cool, the drums also. Only the complete Beat not like it so much. Here is the e-guitar in the foreground and sometimes a bit annoying, I find. The hook is something completely different sounds, all right, but I do not like the whole concept of the song.

05. Hip Hop Is Dead (feat. Will.I.Am) (5 stars)

The organ intro is just awesome. The BPM (beats per minute) are unusually high for a NAS song. Here's the rap in the foreground. Every now and then there's very cool old school effects and beat AC! The Hook sounds very informative and will be accompanied by Egitarrensounds. Cool is also how the Croud "Hip Hop, Hip Hop, HipHop ..." shouts and Nas raps on a tight verse. Hip Hop Is Dead - an ironic song - Hip Hop is alive! (Nas has once again proven)

06. Who Killed It? (4-5 stars)

very good start! The Drums blast the stereo and just fat! The creepy e-piano and the sick, crazy Rapstyle complement each other and combine to form a good whole. Getting used to your style. Had me a bit more "in Beat 'Rap desired, here it sounds a little bit like a madman would tell a story. But somehow the song has what!

07. Black Republican (feat. Jay-Z) (5 stars)

One of the best songs on the album !! NAS and JAY-Z ?? Who would have expected that? The two ended their Beef and together they have created something galactic Great! This song is so powerful and Jay-Z impresses with surprising tightem Style! The hook is the madness! The beat is powerful! Nas and Jay-Z knock in the song out the best verse. I think the competitors struggle has pushed them only forward!

08. Not Going Back (feat. Kelis) (5 stars)

My personal favorite on the album! The sad piano that horny Drums similar bold like "One Mic", convince! The beautiful piano melody and Kelis' voice melt together and it just sounds melancholy. The rape come to the hot beat very good effect! The Violins get under your skin!

09. Still Dreaming (feat. Kanye West & Chrisette Michele) (5 stars)

a good sad beat of Kanye West produced. sounds kind of old after Black Music Motown, I think. Can you hear very well when you come home at night driving in a starry sky or when it is dark knock the raindrops on the windshield. This can be done well to think about life. Very profound!

10. Hold Down The Block (5 Stars)

an absolutely successful song with a beautiful melody. The distorted voice in the background gets under your skin. When Nas raps on the piano, which suspends sometimes, his voice sounds just awesome! Also a favorite of mine. Beautiful Bass, Drums beautiful, and especially the piano melody is very catchy! The hook is supported with a light organ sound, high piano and strings. Sounds nice and round.

11. Blunt Ashes (5 Stars)

Sounds kind of gloomy and religious at the same time, this distorted vocal choir in the foreground with the cool snare that resonates beautifully. The hook is the hammer. Some words resound so by blatant that you get goosebumps. Beautiful piano and trumpet good keyboard sounds make subtly in the background the beat, which is mainly dominated by eerie chorus, complete. The rape 1a!

12. Let There Be Light (feat. Tre Williams) (5 stars)

A favorite! the beat is very nice melodic and hook beautifully sung by Tre Williams! "Let There Be Light" is a hopeful, after "breaking-in-a-better-sounding term" HipHop RnB Soul track which is very profound and timeless sounds.

13. Play On Playa (feat. Snoop Dogg) (5 stars)

Snoop Dogg and Nas - 2 of the best rappers of all time together on a track - just good sound that can! And indeed, the two super rap beat with the beautiful samples of Marvin Gaye. The hook is made for Snoop! Snoop typical sound!

14. Can not Forget About You (feat. Chrisette Michele) (3 stars)

The Raps are very good and the oldschool beat not bad, but not my taste. the hook of the singer does not like me. It sounds like from NEM old film from the '50s or so! The intro is cool - only bass drum and snare. and then suddenly well ...

15. Hustlers (feat. The Game & Marsha Ambrosius) (5 stars)

Typical Dr. Dre beat. On drums and strings limited with simple but good tune !! Nas raps tight and The Game also, only in some places can not accurately distinguish you, here rapping Nas or The Game, although the two but usually have totally different voices, is probably caused by mix of Dr. Dre or it was intentional. NAS was indeed the first East Coast rapper who has recorded with West Coast producer Dr. Dre after all the senseless dispute also again emphasized (in "Nas Is Coming") and is repeated here! NAS is just the best of the East Coast! (After Biggie)

16 Hope (2 stars)

a Acapella! sorry that I rate here so bad, is indeed a very good rap, but I lack here the Beat !!
