The Yamaha 677 can be drafty and clearly set, the GUI is clear and made appealing. However, no design miracle - compared with other digital devices. But they ruled rather quickly. Minor details such as saving Favorites, however, optically not very accessible. One sees, for example, which does not mesh radios you have saved and what not!
Connecting and reconnecting the devices and boxes, as with all other devices of this class also - HDMI is simple, the pit-terminals could be better solved (but this does not only affect the Yamaha 677).
Calibrate the space, rename the HDMI inputs and provided with new icons - a quick thing and a nice result.
The HDMI Control works flawlessly, all devices are turned on - but not off! When changing from one video source to an audio source stays on as the TV. What is not really a drawback, all other devices make it not - that I could even turn on my old Denon the TV with the remote control. The Yamaha has such a function is not on the remote control.
The sound is good. I like the highs and mids even very good, just the bass in the surround, it could be a bit crisper. As soon as one on the Straight mode switch (only 2 boxes active) is the sound definitely very good. The sound during movies is significantly better than the Denon 1912. However, very warm and surrounding! The Denon has as yet strongly separated channels, which has led to a more than distinct positioning the boxes. When Yamaha makes you feel more in the movie!
Was important to me especially the Airplay mode. This works very well, tested with an iPad, Iphone and over NAS. Over a longer period, constant by changing the title, on several Airplay devices switch everything properly and the response is very direct.
Extremely cumbersome to update the firmware is released, but doable!
Overall, I am for peace in the price-performance ratio very well sound like it very much! Design and workmanship are very good. Only the remote control could bring a few more features. Nevertheless 5 stars!
