There are still car charger sets with only 1A current or without control LED.

The approximately 2A this xcessory car charger kits allow the use of the device and an additional battery charge with eg 1.2A.

The status LED tells me maybe, that the auto outlet is always powered (even when ignition key withdrawn).
Then the LED is an important reminder that car battery not to burden a long time with a consumer while the car is parked.
