New "old" songs of the Beatles

Love Special Edition (CD + DVD) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Now the time has come. Again some music classic Beatles were technically "dusted off" so that now further 26 Beatles Oldies present in new remastered mix.

Author of this new album is none other than George Martin, the "5.Beatle" and former sound engineer of the band. At his side, his son Giles Martin. Sure was and is no other sound engineer - as precisely George Martin - this to take suitable production because that had the original tapes eventually merged in the 1960s.

Background of remixing is listed since the summer of 2006 the Beatles musical "Cirque du Soleil", which is listed in the "Mirage" in Las Vegas.

The here selected for the CD Songs of the Beatles were mixed for the musical from scratch, so that here sometimes up to three Beatles songs were combined with each other and thus set another musical experience, as in the original mix on the already known CDs. The new CD is therefore something for long-time fans of the band, as well as for new interested her music.

In the version available to me is the "Special Edition", consisting of the CD are also available separately as well as the bonus DVD that contains the same tracks on the CD, however, has other audio formats.

The DVD-mix has the following audio formats:

- 5.1 Dolby Digital (AC3)

- 5.1 DTS

- PCM stereo

- DVD-Audio (use only possible with DVD-Audio player)

Particularities of each title to the origin versions:

1. Because: There listening to the a capella version of the song.

2. Get Back: Introduction of the Title relating "Carry That Weight" -Gitarren- and -Schlagzeug solo.

3. Glass Onion: A little more emphasis on the drums.

4. Eleanor Rigby / Julia: Eleanor Rigby got a somewhat more prolonged instrumental introduction and sounds with the melody of "Julia" from the "White Album" from.

5. I Am The Walrus: Slightly different emphasis on the instruments, apart from that the old piece.

6. I Want To Hold Your Hand: Here is the original version was a concert backdrop (screaming fans, as in 1964 when the Beatles usual) underlaid.

7. Drive My Car / The Word / What You're Doing: main event is the first song. Individual elements of the other two pieces of sound at the end.

8. Gnik Nus: Yeah, what's that? Just around another read or hear and already we know it. The song is played on a CD / DVD backward!

9. Something / Blue Jay Way: Actually the original piece by George Harrison with Blue Jay Way in conclusion.

10. Being ... Mr.Kite / I Want You / Helter Skelter: The first known piece is the main event here. At the end there is to hear passages of the other two songs ("Helter Skelter" very quiet).

11. Help !: In about the famous Beatles song.

12 Blackbird / Yesterday: Introduction on guitar riff Blackbird with reconciliation to Yesterday.

13. Strawberry Fields Forever: A bit more vocal track with redeemed instrumentation. In the credits, there then to hear some other Beatles songs.

14. Within You Without You / Tomorrow Never Knows: Here the vocals of George from Within You Without You on the melody and the beat of Tomorrow Never Knows was laid. Very nicely done.

15. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds: In about the well-known piece in perfect quality.

16 Octopus's Garden: blending with "Good Night" from "White Album" really succeeded. Would have fit better at the end of the album.

17. Lady Madonna: Little changes to original titles.

18. Here Comes The Sun / The Inner Light: Beautiful introduction passage to the actual main song finale "The Inner Light".

19. Come Together / Dear Prudence / Cry Baby Cry: This is almost exclusively for the title "Come Together" by John Lennon. The other two pieces are displayed only briefly.

20. Revolution: Few changes to the original, but in a technically great remastered version, as if John Lennon had been in the studio yesterday.

21 Back In The USSR: introduction about "revolution" to the famous song from the "White Album".

22. While My Guitar Gently Weeps: This Harrison-piece was placed on thrifty instrumentation value, so that there is now a vocal piece for guitar and strings (which were re-recorded for "LOVE") has become. Something different.

23. Day In The Life: Flowing title transitions with neighboring pieces. Otherwise, most of the "old" song.

24. Hey Jew: stayed about the same. Technically, however, like all songs on the CD, significantly better than the original title.

. 25. Sgt Peppers ... (Reprise): is transferred from Hey Jew. Otherwise, about equal to the original.

26. All You Need Is Love: Like the original with slightly longer blanking.

My rating:

Song selection: 5 stars

Sound Quality: 5 star (even in 5.1 surround sound)

New blend: 5 stars

The double-CD / DVD option for all users of 5.1-hifi systems. Otherwise, does it also the simple CD for less money.

After this CD, however, the desire remains for all Beatles fans continue after an already long overdue remastering of the original plates from "Please Please Me" and "Let It Be".
