Hearts and Bones (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Before me this album led to heart, I knew only live versions of "Hearts and Bones" and "Train in the Distance" and thus counted with a CD full of melancholy and quiet arrangements, and more acoustic sound.
After the first song "Allergies" I knew immediately that I had fallen in the opposite hands. Peppy melody synthesizer and electric guitar - strong song, I thought, but not the old Simon ... The same can be more than "think to much (a)", almost a wireless number, and the lyrically very appealing "Cars are "say cars. Here Simon expresses its incomprehension about the fact that people of different Mr. Coming watch often disposed as alien or hostile, by drawing a comparison to the cars: "Cars are cars / all over the world"
Undoubtedly, the title song, which deals with Simon's divorce from Carrie Fisher, a piece of music of the highest quality, but, as well as "Train in the Distance" or "Rene and Gerogette Magritte ..." affects the sound a bit too artificial and produced not the profound effect that would have a sound like "one trick pony" can be achieved.
From this grandiose predecessor to "Hearts and Bones" is not to deny a throwback, but can not be pick holes in the songs themselves: Strong and beautiful melodies, interesting lyrics and songs for every mood.
Most notable is of course "The Late Great Johnny Ace" Simon's John Lennon-Ode, the honest without big Brim and Borium, reflects thoughtful flashbacks to the sixties, to the bitter death Lennon.
Conclusion: Everyone Simon fan will be pleased with this album.
Something Business orientierterer sound with very personal lyrics paired - strong idea for my taste but not Simon-climax.
