The connection via USB is working properly. The drive is immediately recognized as a DVD / CD LFW., Integrated and can be used.
It also works with Parallels Desktop and Win7 without restrictions. The initial installation of Win7 under PD expired without any complaints.
What bothers me:
- The drive is in operation quite noisy, that is clearly audible on the desk.
- The feel is quality - BUT:
- But you look more closely, you realize that the body consists essentially of the plastic. Only the top and edges are "dressed" with aluminum.
- The error correction is moderate to poor. Easily scratched DVDs that reads my Plextor LFW., Were not completely read (termination with read errors).
- The reading and writing speeds are below average slow for today's standards.
- It has a USB 2.0 connection (USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt would have been desirable)
- It has no button to eject the DVD / CD - this only works under software control, and unfortunately not always
