EMI Classics has with this double CD one, I think, very good selection of the best known and perhaps most beautiful piano pieces of Poulenc. Gabriel Tacchino who has already made a name with recordings of Satie, Debussy or Saint Saens, Poulenc proves with his interpretations once again his affinity for French composers, although I did not show the choice of tempi of some pieces quite ideal. However, this is a matter of taste. What has me very upset, however, an indication of publication date (1998) is simply wrong. It should have read 1988. The actual recordings were however 1966-1983 held at various locations. Is also correspondingly different audio quality - really bad times, sometimes acceptable, sometimes with, sometimes without noise (Example: "novelettes"). These differences are hardly visible when Preview as the player programs distort the audio anyway. When one learns here finally the actual year of recordings ?! For completeness: In the booklet you will find out the track list and two photos a page in three languages on the piano work Poulenc - nothing about the pianist.
