No comparison to cheap seats ...

We bought this Maxi Cosi Pearl car seat exactly 2 years ago here at Amazon. At the time, he was even more clearly than your date.
Reason for the purchase decision was that we already use Family Fix base with the baby car seat Maxi Cosi Pebble from. However, intensive research and read tests had given us a good feeling when we bought the Pearl. Plus points of the seat are:

- Good workmanship and good materials (see below Except for the exception)
- Quite a lot of accessories
- Sufficient lying position with Family Fix Base Station
- Super simple well thought-belt system

Negatives:

- Beltpad which is individually removable and apparently also subsequently available is showing clear signs of wear.

Overall, we would buy the seat again and can safely recommend it to our experience on. We have the second car for cheap no-name the seat was indeed much cheaper, about which we did annoy us every time if we but have him use.
