Well, then, they are actually back !! The only true "supergroup of Progs modern times" announces itself after a few years actually traveled. I admit that I was really looking forward the message of comebacks. After the first Hördurchläufen my joy gave way, however, a healthy disillusionment. TRANSATLANTIC Curling still a lot of fun. However, I have hoped for a little more fun ............ except Peter, how naive can you be really ?? The (un) secret boss in the ring is still NEAL MORSE. And Neal Morse makes now even for several years simply Neal Morse music. Very easy to understand and, unfortunately, a little predictable. Those who expect to "The Whirlwind" new or even innovative, might be disappointed. Who but with Neal Morse and TRANSATLANTIC (like me!) Had been his pleasure, will be able to spend with "The Whirlwind" some good times. On "The Whirlwind" there is only one song. This, however, is divided into 12 parts sections. This looks to me like a suite, with very smooth transitions. The first makes it really fantastic "Overture / Whirlwind". Here the album plays out all his strengths. Sing-along choruses, a melody for toe-tapping and rocking parts. So it could remain. But it does not. In the course of the CD, there is unfortunately every now and then one or the other length. As I see developing to the previous releases, the (few) JAMPARTS, and a co-occurring Floyd feeling. For me the best moments. But unfortunately there are also songs that a little "useless" act (Song 12 "Dancing with Eternal Glory / Whirlwind [Reprise]). "The Whirlwind" is an album that I really enjoy. Maybe I had my expectations a little bit screwed too high. This album is not inferior to its predecessors. But unfortunately it can me "only" chat ........... and no longer surprise. No Matter. "The Whirlwind" is for me one of the highlights in 2009 (and there are really few). Fans of the first albums, and fans of the "neat Retroprogs" should absolutely access. I'm a pretty batty collector and have therefore also to Ltd. 2 CD + DVD gripped. Really do not care about this stuff but bonus. Beautiful album !!
