Now for the negative points:
- HDD's are detected only with FAT32 formatting
- To get back movies recorded on the hard disk for archiving down, this can only be copied to DVD. A Connect an HDD and copy unfortunately is not.
- In the best recording quality (XP) has a film with 90min. approx already size of 6 GB and thus Double Layer DVDs are necessary.
- Movies on an external hard drive can be added via USB only again if they have the video format DivX. When you convert an MPEG2 movie in this format, is my are the high quality but quite poor.
- The main drawback of which I knew nothing at first is this: The signal via a satellite receiver you get only via Scart. Just as earlier with VCR. Who knows HDMI, also detects thus immediately a big difference in picture quality. I would go so far, unfortunately, that a new high-quality video recorder has the same image quality as this recorder. You might think there would be a better solution than still the same as 20 years ago.
- The last point is even occurred to me: From 4-burned DVDs of the hard drive down to two hanged and two have single pair indoors error. Of course that was a typo.
Conclusion: The device is really reliable in its function and original DVDs can be well over HDMI Play but the recordings still would have a lot to be done when it comes to archiving on HDD and quality.
