This album is an album of the group but lacks these strong songs that we will choose in its playlist (songs of the genre Jenny Was a friend of mine, Sam's Town, When You Were Young).
Flesh and Bone, Runaways and The Way it Was (I contradict myself a bit) for me are the big three songs (proof that there still is good to be learned). The rest seems to need more plays to get along, or it's just that it's not as good!
The group reported having difficulty producing this album. Not very surprising that it is less successful then! We hear less guitar than Day & Age - far from a Sam's Town so - and it was a different energy than Hot Fuss. So a transition album, listening anyway because even if it's not at the previous is another facet of the group to explore that is not so bad (I mean by this that if all groups consisted of This way I mind not)
