We have the lamp so back and forth and tried everything possible provided, so that our daughter is not looking (can s) and that we are not overwhelmed by the heat or burn our hair ... nothing worked. Either you build a mountain with the toy between the baby and the lamp, or one fits on exactly where the baby take a closer and possibly turns off the lamp. In the first case there is no point, because the little girl then lies in the shade and the lamp emits heat in vain. In the second case, which is very stressful and makes no fun.
I have to say that we have even tried to put the spotlight behind the changing table. Then, the table would be about 40cm away from the wall. Besides the fact that it would be a waste of space, then the lamp is just right over the baby, so they just have to look up ... And to put the spotlight directly on the wall, and seemed quite dangerous, because it is quite nice and hot ...
So much for our experience with the radiator.
To smell I can also add that the lamp smells really strengthens. After it was for 10 minutes, you can smell for a long time the plastic in the room. I think for outdoor use that is certainly a good investment, but just not for our purpose. The spotlight fell again.
