(I think it's way very unfortunate that here all reviews of the verschienen router models are listed together, ohnd that there is a way of filtering.)
IPV6. Use behind cable modem with DS-Lite:
The TP-Link Archer met my expectations on the whole. I use it behind a Cisco Cable Modem Unitymedia. The connection works with dual-stack Lite (DS-Lite). Since the cable modem acts as a DHCP server, I have this feature disabled when Archer C7 for IPv4 and IPv6. The assignment of both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of functions after some trial and error without any problems. (IPv6 must remain off in WAN setup for it. LAN Setup for IPv6 I've adjusted to SLAAC) All clients on the WLAN connect easily and quickly with IPv6 and IPv4 pages.
Transmission power:
The transmission power is not much better than in my previous router (an old DLINK model). This is probably due to the generally limited transmission power for wireless and on the strong walls in our house. Alternatively, you can select another country and thus increase the transmission power may significantly for the router in Setup. But I'd rather it. Firstly, it is not legal and the other, I would like my family and me also not expect this radiation. The router also covers so from two floors with several rooms, after I positioned centrally him. In 2.4 GHz power the range is significantly higher than the 5 GHz network.
Equipment and menu:
The settings are truly enormous. Most of it you do not need well. But I think good, grudsätzlich there is the possibility for many settings. In particular, the guest access, which if necessary. may be limited to certain usage times and bandwidth I find very useful. The guest receives only access to the rest of the network, if desired.
I would have still wished that I can turn off the WLAN overnight. This possibility is not provided.
Problems: disconnections and access via Android App
The disconnections already repeatedly described can be prevented if "2.4GHz Wireless", the "Channel Width" is set to 20 MHz in the menu item. In addition, the support advises to manually adjust the channel selection. Since then I have no more problems with the connection. I hope however that the next update again allows all settings here.
There's an app "Tether", with the leads on Android in the router settings for Android. Notwithstanding any other information on the part of TP-Link and current firmware is not possible to connect to Archer C7 via the app.
Conclusion:
The Archer C7 is a modern router with super quality, good processing and good price-performance ratio. I would buy it to me again. One star deduction is available for the not yet fully mature firmware.
UPDATE: 07/05/2014
To date, no update to firmware offered more TP-Link. The connection means Android app still does not work and the above errors are not corrected. Therefore, I have now sent back the router to be defective and bought another model (D-Link DIR-868L / E). However, newer devices of Archer C7 are now made with slightly different hardware. I suspect that the problems described above are based on a hardware error which can not be solved by angeapasste firmware. On newer devices, these problems may no longer exist.
