So here, I listened to Live Van Halen with David Lee Roth, and it's just their first together since their training !!!! Amazing. To say I was skeptical is an understatement, because after all I've read and heard on this live, I expected the worst. Well honestly it is not there ..... and the best is not that far here musically (here I do not mean the case DLR). Explanations: The presentation: we like it or not the boat, but it's more aesthetic than the locomotive of the previous album, although not suitable for a live album. The set list, for against, is to die for all those who love this group. As always we may regret the absence of some titles, personally I would have preferred "Fools" WACF instead of "Tattoo", but many are unavoidable there, so no complaints here. The book tells us the concert date (21 June 2013), location (Tokyo Dome) and the number of spectators (44000) and then here. So it is important to note that the album transcribed ONE concert (also with all its faults) and it is not a compilation of the best moments of the tour. No pictures of the group, nor live, nor backstage, nothing. As against this, is entitled to the lyrics. This choice does not seem sensible for a live album, but good. They do not want to show on the covers (fear of growing old ???). The music: it's still a good point of this concert: The production is raw, but all the instruments are discernable, phew !!! Eddie means, but also the rhythm section with bass very present, and Alex battery slightly behind, but it's not a big problem as the sound of his bass drum is not great but the overall balance is correct. You can also hear the public which is perfect for the atmosphere. Eddie plays well or very well ("Mean Street" is simply giant). It's still huge to hear these songs played with the fishery recovered. So nothing to say at the musical interpretation. Rest singing: and this is where there is something to say. DLR have a problem. I'm thrilled by the fact that you can hear it with his cronies to this directory. But the concert is laborious if not catastrophic, he murders the text of "Unchained", his voice is not in place, and sometimes the text is more spoken than sung. It is almost pathetic, it's sad for him. But, and this is where it is important to remember that the concert is transcribed in full, things work out in as and titles. So that after 4-5 titles, he relaxes and finds more personable. Not that just sings well (far from it), but it is not as uncomfortable for him. The second album is at the much better song and found real pleasure to listen to this show (it is not fun this little nod to Deep Purple in "And the craddle will rock"?) . The musicians (without DLR, we agree) are huge and the Japanese public had to be thrilled to see them at this level. Still, we still feel the absence of Michael Anthony in choirs. Finally, and only after 2-3 plays, I sincerely think that Live is not a total crash, musicians are an unfailing honesty to the public, remains DLR is bad early in the set (may be the jitters !!!) but is recovering somewhat short concert, staying beautiful is the weak link that will do much written about this live. Too bad, a thousand pities. So for my part nuancerai acerbic comments heard and read from right to left, and I sincerely believe that this album will still satisfy many fans of the group, even if they go much bitching. I do not regret my purchase, I loved this group, and I do not want to drop it even if I think we could have had a much better finished product. You are free to follow or not my opinion. Final note: 4.5 without DLR DLR 2.5, an average of 3.5 rounded to 3 because there are no half stars .... and the 4 stars are still a little generous to Because of David's faults.
