Nothing new, more even less ...

After Logitech has unveiled its G15 gaming keyboard over 2 years ago, now the G15 comes as a new edition in the Refresh Edition. What has changed compared to its predecessor, and what has been improved can be said briefly:

Actually, nothing more has been saved!

Was the first G15 Logitech still a pure gamer product (agressive look, edgy, big and NEN bit of what nem military equipment) Logitech aligned with the new edition clearly to a wider audience.

The G15 has become much leaner. This is because the case of the new G15 is no longer 18 G keys are located to the left of the numeric keypad, but only 6. While one can this show three times as ever, but then we are already on NP ratio of 54 (old ) to 18 (new) G-keys.
Who eh never needed more than 18 additional keys, which you may not care if one has but used the G-keys extensively with his old model, you will miss them already. Especially in games like WOW the keys were that you could impose all sorts of macros for different situations very helpful. (Had at least and I have occupied considerably more than 18 keys with me)

The biggest change has but the G15 undergone in the overall appearance. The slightly cool-looking blue light has given way to a strong and warm bersteinfarbenen lighting. Advantage of the new color: even in bright daylight you can see the keys well, which is often difficult when the blue lights!
Flat is the keyboard as ever. The Logitech keyboards have all together and ergonomics is always very important for these products.
The keyboard is flowing and is almost a work of art in itself.

Also striking is the new concept of the display, which integrates seamlessly with the keyboard. Whether you want to see this construction as an advantage over the foldable displays remains entirely up to, I prefer the foldable version, if only because so the media keys are arranged substantially larger and more clearly below the display and not around it.

Also, again 2 USB ports on board the G15 over which you can connect various Perepherie to the keyboard. The cable can then be conveniently stowed under the keyboard in the appropriate cable channels.

In order to come again to the USB connectors back:
After the first G15 only USB ports have been installed with the standard USB 1.1, which was one of the main criticisms of the keyboard, Logitech has time ... unfortunately learned again nothing from his mistakes. As before, only USB 1.1 ports are installed.
Just the connection of a USB Card Reader brings the computer to go on strike. ("Not enough power" etc.)
Then, if something does not consume too much electricity and all work on the connections, you get in most cases at least a friendly "This device can perform faster" to hear from the computer. Nowadays simply incomprehensible!

+ Better illumination of the buttons than its predecessor (adjustable in 3 steps)
+ Freely programmable display
+ Very flat

- Less than the previous G-keys
- Still installed USB 1.1
- Display not folding
- Unfavorable arranged media keys
- High price despite fewer features
- There was more emphasis on design than on functionality

CONCLUSION:

The new G15 provides fewer features than the old one, costs more and is clearly at a wider audience oriented than the old one.
If you have no G15, but think about it is to buy a can access reassured. All users of the previous model was advised to stay in the old, unless you have too much money, attaches importance to the new look and can on 12 keys (or 36 with multiple allocation) without.

Due to the good idea to bring out a new edition and in spite of all good features 4 stars from me!
