Every song (be) touches me again and again, and in this situation you can hear all the songs like "in one go". No song is annoying or superfluous, and every song is a corollary of the foregoing.
The CD begins with the very atmospheric song "Tell me where the flowers are", a German version of the classic "Where have all the flowers gone" and I think the more beautiful. For me, who was born in the late 60s and the 'could' listen to the war experiences of grandparents, this song is an urgent appeal for peace and is the yearning authentic again, as the consequence of the song "Lili Marleen", which recorded but excellent was and is perfectly interpreted.
It continues with the French chanson "The world was young" (Original: Le chevalier de Paris) sad and full of longing and the haunting "The answer is blowing in the wind" originally sung by Bob Dylan, the comparison with the American original need not be afraid.
"Johnny, if you have a birthday" is a love song, is sung that so einfringlich and sexy that it is fun to listen to.
"Alone" and "Peter" are beautifully rehearsed songs with a beautiful story.
"Paff, the Magic Dragon" is the German version of The Mamas & the Papas (I think) and my absolute favorite on this CD. The text, the song, the voice, everything fits and is just perfect.
"When summer draws back" and "Marie Marie" are also half-spoken and half-sung short stories and arranges very atmospheric.
The following piece, "I still have a suitcase in Berlin" makes Marlene Dietrich to her own story and it sounds as if this song was specially written just for them.
After the classic movie follow "I will love you", "Take 'you beware of blond women," "I am from head to toe set to love" and "I'm the sexy Lola", re-recorded in a fresh sound and somehow unmistakably Marlene Dietrich, but also -in comparison to the Originalversionen- different. Mature, beautiful, serene (and above all in better quality!).
The last song "Children, This evening I'll look for something from" is a typical Marlene Dietrich song. A bit daring without being lewd and be humorous without superficial.
In short:
If you like the charm of the 60s and is predisposed nostalgic, will like this CD. But they can also give grandma who will be happy either, or has another opportunity to "Marlene, the traitor" to blaspheme (and still like to listen to the CD, without admitting it ...)
