And so Morrissey will remain on "World Peace is none of your business" faithful. The title track which offers a mix of sweet music and pretty angry text. "I'm not a man" is in my opinion the highlight of the album, he sets his views here very convincing and above all with a fantastic melody. 6 minutes pass fairly quickly, no sound is superfluous. "Istanbul" was probably Morrissey's first choice for a first single, the song I find rather average, as "Earth is The Loneliest Planet". Every now and Flamenco sounds come through that has probably contributed Gustavo Manzur. This has been a very refreshing effect in the midst of the typical Morrissey-rock sounds.
Really refreshing then the songs "Staircase at the University" and "Kiss me a lot," I think the songs with the most hit potential on the album. (And a real hit would Morrissey slow sometimes earned again!) A little quiet it is towards the end, on "Smiler with Knife" Unfortunately, even a bit dull, with "Oboe Concerto" but again really nice, actually here lies down even a oboe solo on Rock Band.
That Morrissey has its own idea of how this album is to be promoted (video clips, commercials, etc.) you can not blame him. That Harvest Records his wishes did not comply, although Morrissey could be a small source of income certainly, probably speaks for the faltering board industry, under the truly self-determined artists probably are likely to suffer most.
The album anyway deserves to be heard and to be bought. It is no revelation, no reinventing the wheel, but a really good Morrissey album.
