The pliers represents a classic water pump pliers. The adjustment mechanism is unlocked by pressing a small button. A spring on the back fixed the mechanism again in the selected position.
The build quality is above reproach.
The maximum span is approximately 25 mm. This is sufficient to unscrew a aerator from the faucet or to pull the glands to radiators fixed.
In these operations, it proves to be advantageous that the two flat portions of the jaws are always parallel to each other. Thus, damage to the corners of nuts or similar things can be avoided well with some caution. With a pair of pliers that fails, because there the power always attaches at the corners and not on the smooth surfaces.
Due to the shape of the pliers results in a good clamping and leverage. Another advantage is that the clamping force is virtually independent of the set span.
The teeth in the rounded part of the jaws are very sharp. Thus recalcitrant nails or screws can grab very well and turn out, however, also provided with unsightly machining marks.
Contraindications:
Of course you can not develop the same powers as a full-grown specimen with such a small pliers. I need now but barely.
Also, it is not necessarily advisable, to edit sensitive parts like nuts or chrome fittings. A water pump pliers is not a complete replacement for an open-end wrench!
On both issues related I met eg when repairing my bicycle.
