A top item: This book contains a lot of tips, tools techniques. There are also fairly comprehensive presentations of all the components most commonly encountered in everyday electronics. Warning, this is not an introduction to electronics for that! But with some basic electrical and electronics can often use the book in order to take ideas and look for references. Now that's great!
Then chapters sweep by device types the most common failures. That's where we can put a caveat: compared to what sells the title and summary, some devices and types of hardware are very quickly swept away. One would have hoped to find generalities more developed on the construction of certain products (transistor radios, helmets, food ...).
And be careful: the book devotes more than 100 pages only to flat screens! For my part, it does not interest me at all, so that's a big part of my book that is completely useless! It's a bit frustrating when after certain types of objects are entitled to a few lines. But hey, I guess these are generic failures that are listed.
In short: a very good book to grow in electronics. A good book to learn how to repair his equipment (but very limited, the fact that only a few very specific failures are listed step by step). Despite the imposing presence of flat screens (!!), I recommend this book that is easy to read and navigate, because it contains valuable tips on each type of components!
