That is why here the criticism that I have written to Robert Reed's album "Sanctuary" among musikreviews.de:
"Instrumental prog rock back to exactly the Oldfield-roots that has long since pulled the real champion!"
Sometimes you should start a CD with meeting (s) a Coming Out!
So here comes mine!
After I had to do On The Rocks aware horror after several Hördurchgängen the album that MIKE OLDFIELD at most was halfway music bearable with a lot of hard liquor On The Rocks and I as inattentive nostalgics and large Oldfield-offender tough in our guestbook from hardcore Fans was punished, I began to pray:
Dear God, make that Olle Oldfield completely sags on his island under the influence of too many tequilas, for that matter, goes down, but the future depends his guitar on the nail and not presented to us under the holy name Oldfield more tepid pop albums !! !
Dear God, give us a musician who still exactly brings even today, what Olle Oldfield hinbekam as a gifted composer and multi-instrumentalist 40 years ago, when he with a lot of instruments, all of which he grossed myself, my music world with loud Tubular Bells- peal to a new universe enriched!
And God heard my prayer and sent me Robert Reed and his sanctuary!
So much for my coming out - - but I agnostic A **** bird did not believe in God but definitely I think from now on Robert Reed!
The brain behind such impressive band such as magenta, the Neo-Prog perform skillfully with Oldfield-trends since 1999, or behind the less impressive, extremely cheesy, nonetheless more successful KOMPENDIUM it has now set itself the task, the early music of MIKE OLDFIELD lifting of Tubular Bells to Incantations back to the music base while encountering Oldfield of this.
To implement his plan, he is not only an exceptional but extremely imaginative and demanding idea to: Over several years he worried all instruments used also MIKE OLDFIELD 1973 Tubular Bells, learned to play every single self and composes then an elaborate piece of music, which he presents in two parts - just like Oldfield 1973. Only he calls it, of course not-Tubular Bells-Ommadawn-Hergest Ridge Incantations, but the sanctuary!
Sanctuary - there might be a better name for this type of music?
But so that everything fits together perfectly, Robert Reed goes one step further, letting us know frankly that this album is an implementation of the testamentary bequest of the 70s Oldfields. He takes contact to Tubular Bells-producers TOM NEWMAN and the Audio Master Chef SIMON HEYWORTH on that then to leave Sanctuary under their influence also sound are what Tubular Bells 1973 onwards - an all-round masterpiece to the remarks Newman I have enjoyed working on this album ... and it came at the end of true musical soundscapes!
Is there a higher Adelung for a musician like Robert Reed out of the mouth of the producer, who has been with Virgin Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn, Amarok and and and produced?
The answer is clearly Sanctuary!
But even that is not always enough for the perfectionist-claim of Robert Reed, so that one sometimes thinks, behind him stood the young Oldfield with the pseudonym Reed. A second CD / DVD is created, this time a high-resolution Remaster in all Dolby digital formats (DTS 5.1 + + 24/96 stereo mix) as well as three fantastic promo video, in which of course Oldfields promos obviously provided the inspiration. An indescribable sound experience also for those who have a good Dolby system.
In the end there of course also for the nostalgic among us this amazing sound experience than LP, lovingly pressed into black small grooves, on which one must not attack because otherwise fat-fingered footprints leaves, while very tender with an antistatic cloth or already progressive brush to clean drives over it.
And suddenly occurs at least for me a a fact that I would have never thought possible. I'll get not about the old-Oldfield albums from my turntable or CD cabinet, but hear overwhelmed Sanctuary.
Over and over again!
CONCLUSION: Those who like Man On The Rocks by Mr. Oldfield-Iceland may, feel free to sit back and continue to search in its Moonlight Shadow desperate sunny moments and hear these garbled cheese until it comes out of their radio format ears again.
All others who yearn for the old era between Oldfield Tubular Bells to Incantations that should quickly change their gaze and ear-set and hear the true revelation called Sanctuary.
Effective immediately, Robert Reed and MIKE OLDFIELD God only an idol, which did not even longer suitable as an altar boy.
If Tubular Bells was the Old Testament instrumental prog-rock, then Sanctuary is the New Testament!
PS: My dog lady Iffi always stayed when I heard the earlier music of Mike Oldfield, lying next to me on the sofa. With Man On The Rocks she disappeared very quickly. Since Sanctuary it is relaxed again next to me - another proof ... and I want my cat not write only.
