Caveat: I love Shin Megami Tensei and had then begun with Persona 3 and Persona 4, before I the real Shin Megami Tensei tried.
For beginners, this game could prepare really minor issues, but for connoisseurs of the series hardly trouble is found.
The alleged high frustration level is, in my opinion, does not exist. Died I'm only at the first fight against Dante, and also this was very scarce.
Also I have to disagree, as it was said that the game would not be enough memory points be present. There really are enough terminals and S terminals, you just have to find them. They are available in any case; for some, difficult dungeons and labyrinths even at every level.
Many, successive battles and random encounters also find largely held only if you have previously worked a certain charm that attracts the foreign demons. Otherwise one will be spared, as long as you retain the good radar bottom right of the image in the eye.
From story-wise the game is really versatile. Whichever is the protagonist for answers to open different paths and endings. So it pays to play through the game multiple times.
A big surprise was the graphics for me. When the game was released, I was mainly due to the graphic unsure whether it is worthwhile to buy this game - but it was an unnecessary worry. I think the great graphics, the different backgrounds and see demons designed class and there is certainly something for everyone. Very successful are also the various elemental and non-elemental attacks and effects.
The sound is also great. There are places where the background music to some extent change if you are staying at different points of a place, depending on the situation is even more oppressive or tense. I find great.
Something bad is the lack of voice. For a PS2 game of such quality would have been the icing. Slightly irritating are incorrect translations from English to German, or that some words even entirely absent / are squeezed together. While some facial expressions and gestures is visible, and at least in the fight and in some demons scurrying around, sounds have been added, but unfortunately that is all in "Voice output". Also, the game froze a few times during the fight, which was a bit frustrating.
Conclusion: for Shin Megami Tensei fans an absolute must. Die-hard fans know, to get over the little flaws and be at this game long have your pleasure. The guest appearance by Dante from Devil May Cry provides additionally for mood. The protagonist is very sympathetic, albeit silently, but this is one used by SMT.
Another positive aspect is that it also something, learns by demons from their origin meanings etc., either from mythology or legends. And then I says again, video games make stupid - by no means in Shin Megami Tensei.
