One of the best vintage K.Dick

As is often the central character is a tortured man, living in a society become inhuman, an ordinary man who can be brought to live an extra-ordinary situation.

This book does not recount the construction of a cathedral on an alien planet, as can let it think the summary, and as I had thought at first, but rather the story of a man called with others to a task that will allow him to leave a flat daily, without interest. Building one does hear little about the story is rather focused on its relationship with an entity "superhuman" ... the sponsor.
