I own the Thermolite Reactor (see my local recession) and also the Thermolite Reactor Extreme is to bring up to 15oC heat gain. Comparing the two, but the temperature gain is minimal - so that the "normal" Reactor for its comfort gain and to protect the sleeping bag from dirt as a sleeping bag ticking still seems appropriate in the price, though hardly heat gain can also be felt here in the real application. Each piece of cloth to previously uncovered skin brings first time a feeling of warmth because the air movement is reduced - but this hardly plays a role in a functioning sleeping bag system. Only in too wide summer sleeping bag without a functioning thermal collar is at least theoretically possible that with this ticking that conforms to the body an essential heat gain can be achieved.
The much more expensive "extreme" but does not bring significant added value compared to the "standard type" which was also confirmed by AC / omitting the Inletss the use of a sleeping bag at marginal temperatures.
Sufficient if in the winter use, as where a sleeping bag is by no means necessary for survival or at least crucial for the success of a tour, the limit temperature range of an otherwise high-quality sleeping bag should be extended to 15oC, realistic may 3oC heat gain.
