What it can:
- The ScanSnap is very suitable for small offices or individuals who have to scan a limited number of documents or documents regularly. For me it is about 5-10 documents per day.
- The scanner has a duplexer, ie front and rear sides of a document are recorded in a single pass.
- The bundled software can store different scan profiles. These can then be used before each scan if necessary selected easily and quickly via dropdown list.
- The unit is very compact and takes surprisingly little space. If the cover is opened, the scanner is immediately and without any warm-up phase.
- The scanning speed is adequate and comparable to a good flatbed scanner. A time saving arises mainly from the fact that you can "feed" the sheet feeder with up to 10 documents and the documents are then processed and stored in one go. That does not spectacular at first, but who turns daily front and back of documents on a flatbed scanner and assembles PDF will quickly become accustomed to the convenience.
- The device copes well with different types of paper. The thin gas receipt is also processed as the thick postcard. If a paper skew, the software corrects the result.
What he can not:
- Documents that are larger than 10 pages, must in tranches of max. 10 pages are inserted into the paper tray. The software adds these together although again automatically. Should such
Documents are processed but regularly, a device with a larger catchment might be better.
- The same applies to the scanning speed. With a high 2-digit or 3-digit number of documents per day, a larger model would certainly be an advantage.
