Of course you can, "As I Lay Dying" accuse easy to verwursten all stylistic devices and styles that again enjoying greater popularity for some time in order to please fans from as many corners. But if you look at the whole thing from a different angle, one concludes that "Frail Words Collapse" is a very successful blend of metalcore metal, Newschool thrashing and also slight Gothenburg Death influences. With emphasis being placed abwchslungsreiche guitar work (sometimes melodic, sometimes dissonant, sometimes moshend) and the drumming seems to carry the songs. The album goes from the beginning forward: blast beats, guttural shouting, melodic riffing, crude moshparts and hi-speed double-bass breakdowns. After the first 2 songs then immersed in "Forever", one of the best songs on the album, a first hint of auflockernder melody. With "Collision" is followed by a piece of metal which is supported by melodic riffing. A moment later it comes but once in full: "Distance is Darkness" is one of the fiercest and hardest songs on the album: A Blast Beat staccato directs the song, and then edit the listener with dissonant riffing, recently Grunting and desperate shouting and then be reconciled in a quieter part. When listening to Track 6 "Behind me lies another fall Soldier" then the sun rises for the first time on: A quiet and melodic beginning then advances into a midtempo piece. This, quite balanced mix runs through the whole album. It is a pity that Tim Lambesis (who really has a powerful organ) does not sing in the quiet parts but rather forfeit a chant. Lyrically (All texts in the booklet) move "As I Lay Dying" at similar levels such as Shai Hulud or Atreyu: Desperate and emotionally it's about the futility of existence, loss, love and pain. The lyrics are tinged slightly christian and act thereby inevitably somewhat pathetic. Overall, "Frail Words Collapse" a decent metalcore disc that does not offer much new, but can nevertheless captivated by Afanng to finish. And I just madly in love me in the hot double-bass, the rattles like no other. : D Metalcore friends, which sometimes appeals to little more than metal core, I can recommend this disc highly.
