Texts, sounds and pretty textures - Dizzee Rascal (Dylan Mills) is a powerful and intelligent innovator of rap. In retrospect, this is "my" album from 2003, it is the only thing that I still regularly hear and with whom I do not yet "ready" bin. In my music collection have not really many Rap / Hip-Hop / garage had albums inventory. In fact, the music Dizzee Rascals almost anything from blues - in the texts that revolve heavily around the observations and experiences from the neighborhood to poverty, crime and the lack of prospects in life - and the music, obviously about in "Sittin`here" or "Cut em off". But with this reference I certainly mistaken expectations. First, it is a tremendously powerful music, which was well developed by the rhythm of that somehow Japanese-sounding melodies, some with as game consoles sounds, plucked strings, short guitar effects and squealing synthesizers. The lyrics are stories, monologues, radio play-like sometimes staged, sometimes sung forms and duets in call and response, but always in the hyper pace - and unfortunately missing in the booklet. All this is on exact rhythms booming, bubbling or wild running bass, sometimes with touches of dub, and developed square-nervous, sometimes powerful beats. Over the whole is then poured practical nor an archive oblique favorite sounds. At first hearing quite a bit so. First out tip is "Fix Up, Look Sharp" - rather conventional, a BigBeat Pops The attraction of many pieces is immediately apparent, but the refined structures, the clever design and the charm of the texts themselves are permanent Particularly worth highlighting certainly.. I luv u. Dizzee Rascal can be a very big, but first this is one of the most original and compelling albums for a very long time.
