The filter has now been tested by me in continuous use - has been about 4 weeks in operation. Most aspects are positive, but it was not without negative unfortunately.
++ Processing: very good, clean and high quality. Everything fits together, shutters work very well.
++ After modification (s. Further) the filter runs almost silently
++ Accessories - everything is ready for immediate use, even the hoses.
++ Jumpstart - was also a problem with the Eheim. Thanks to the priming pump, the filter can be quickly filled with water.
++ 3 baskets of filter media
++ 2 valves that allow the filter easily disconnected from the hoses for cleaning
++ After 4 weeks operation - water is visible clearly, fish - healthy.
Some negative I have to unfortunately report:
- The filter has a design flaw: The arch at the exit leading to the tube on the water surface, whistles very disturbing. On the day you hardly hear it - only when you stand next to the Aquarium. At night I could whistling even in the bedroom (next floor) perceive. This arc I have exchanged the old from Eheim. After that is calm!
- The filter is somewhat bulky, the valves are positioned at the top of the filter, so I had to give up a shelf in the aquarium cabinet.
- Sponge the intake manifold is called innovation - the idea here is clear, to increase the area of the filter medium. However, I have settled the sponge again, because he added quickly and the water flow stops
- Filter sponge for capturing smallest particles (the white fleece sponge) is too thin. When Eheim he is twice as thick, so that I could continue to use it for several months after washing. The Tetra is not to last - 1 -2 washes will survive it, but not much longer. After that, a replacement must be found.
The good sign - the Tetra I have yet maintained as a main filter, because it offers a low (after modification) as Eheim works and comparable filter performance. In my 115L aquarium he is also good sized. However, I have doubts about whether he is still sufficient for a 300L.
