I have never had a coffee and my daily cup of coffee beans ever brewed in hand filters, like the grandmother. My reasoning, but even to buy a pad or capsule machine ended up that I have my plastic hand filter replaced by porcelain. The filter is optimal in size and is stable and secure on the cup. (Should Jumbo cups for you, however, buy a larger filter, because the diameter of the base is 10 cm.) That the hand filtering is experiencing a renaissance, has its legitimate reason. And that the filter has only one hole (instead of three), you may be criticized for nostalgic reasons, but is completely irrelevant for the coffee flavor. The coffee runs through good and its flavor is very well preserved.
