Vanessa Paradis, one-hit wonder with "Joe le taxi", a musical foundation of retro-rocker Lenny Kravitz can be cast on this album. During her thin, girlish voice still verstömt sweet innocence, Lenny has certainly contributed the occasional gruff-biting tone. On the other hand, he has but also used the opportunity to taste sweet Sixties pop that would be on his own CDs rather out of place. The result is great part, sometimes funny, and often it is off target. The catchy "Be My Baby" can loose touch with "True Blue" of Madonna, "the future" is based on a dodgy-dirty beat, "Just as long as you are there" sounds like a Seventies retro anthem and "Gotta have it" is Velvet Underground-psychedelia. There are well-kept boredom ("Silver and Gold", "Lonely Rainbows")) and superfluous cover versions ("Waiting for my man"). All in all a pleasant summer CD, that has its best time already behind him.
