To understand the book, it would be best to read 'Warprize' and 'Wars Worn' first. The three books are closely connected. Just When Keir and Lara have reached the border of his home country, his enemies influence the Council of Elders to have Lara taken away from so he can not influence her before the hearing thatwill decide whether or not she wants to be confirmed as Warprize. Only then can Keir and Lara bring about the changes he hopes for. Those Who See their power at risk due to Lara's willingness to heal and teach anyone as well as Those Who Simply dislike strangers or change are more than willing to not only speak against Lara, but so to use violence. Her life is at risk and with Keir being kept away from her, she is in graver danger than ever ... This book finally leads us to the land of Keir's people and right into the middle of a fascinating culture. The story and the characters are just as great as before and I was very happy with this ending to the trilogy. It's very clear That the story needs continuation (the central plot is finished, but there are more problems to be solved at the end). There's a follow-up in 'Warcry', Which is not written from Lara's point of view, however. I hope very much thatthere will be more books set in this world and about These People. The series is excellent, a wonderful romantic fantasy.
