A less pure sound but greater authenticity: measuring the gap between studio work and the passage of a group like King Crimson Live. Here, burrs remain present; can not attend any "makeup" of music, especially since the sound is more than insufficient. What is striking is the large share given to improvisation, improvisation which always borrows the paths of jazz. "Peoria" composition Fripp named after the city where it was registered, let the "voice" in Mel Collins saxophone who embarks on a jazzy variation alternating "swing" and "cry". The long piece that closes the disc will see Robert Fripp to marry the sounds of his guitar multiple tempos with breaks or classic game to end after Ian Wallace drum solo in the stridency, the clash of electroacoustic sound material . "21 St Century Schizoid Man" the famous composition of the first album, is here deliberately distorted, distended, soiled by the sound of the saxophone and thus acquires a new dimension. The music on this disc is primarily instrumental, except for some very low intakes of voice; yet here too there is a new "treatment" voice (see "Eartbound"). The design of the "live" game provides great saxophonist Mel Collins place often will dialogue with Robert Fripp in the best jazz tradition. It is a King Crimson surprises and gives all the more regrets not having discovered, in this training, "live" in France. The long beaches enriched by improvisation, extended by the cries still give more strength to the compositions of Fripp as evidenced by "The Sailors Tale" which appears on the album before the group "Island". All shows and the music of King Crimson is not static but open to circumstances therefore ready to relive every concert. This "new music" as it is said ice and intelligently proposed following conditions: in the studio towards perfection, "live" open to chance and frenzy.
