Customer Review

I have to admit: Crowded House has never been my cup of tea! Less still: I hate the so-called folk music of singer-songwriter with the eternally same fiddling ala Irish Minstrels. Likes of groups such as The Corrs, Simple Minds, Big Country and the rest of them "verpoppt". Always mandatory with violin and / or flute worn until intolerable. And even only hints of such trends as Midnight Oil (work off to the Australian part) or the early U2 balk at my hackles. And thus is really everything is still tirelessly denounced the misery of the world in the lyrics ...
After I have now, not quite seriously, omitted about my musical enemy the key ente Question: What then comes to a solo album of a former head of such formation?
In short: "Sinner" This relaxed, jazz vermixte piece captivated me immediately. Almost reminiscent of so many faith-no-more song I was immediately blown away. And then when I see Mr. Finn swim in the accompanying video quite dandy in a black suit, my concerns about CH were wiped out.
Granted, with equal to the first piece of "Last One Standing" come on unique Parralellen on to Crowded House. But with the following "souvenir" and "King Tide" (out tip) shifts this skillfully tended toward the two Gallagher brothers. Heavy Drums, slightly overdriven guitar riffs and a supporter of subtle, barely perceptible Sythiesequenzen Groove are great! The pieces are a little "dirty", although inserting strings.
And then just follow the mentioned "Sinner", right at the center and half-time whistle. Because after that it's almost Sythiepop with "Twisty Bass" on, a eingängingen, slow song, the experiences with "Loose Tongue" at the same clock a continuation. So skillfully that of the display of the player you can see exactly when a new piece has begun.
"Faster than Light" and finally "addicted" are correct Auskling ballads this great album.
The initial part hooked the theme Folk from already, otherwise it offers a good blend. Unexpectedly, rocky, partly "Beatle-restque" from sound, yet very modern. I did not expect!
Well done Neill Finn!
