Comparing the development of est climbing a mountain, then Viaticum is having arrived at the top. A wonderful panorama awaits the listener, full width, depth, maturity and unpretentious. The proximity to Keith Jarrett had earlier arrived in places heavily epigonic trains, but now is Esbjörn Svensson at the height of its own possibilities - and finds his true identity, the trio plays in a Rested spirits which make no idea the effort of the ascent.. A rich blend of melodic and Soundexperimentellem gives the work a timeless quality. I have heard the disc over a year again and it is sure to be once be counted among the classics of jazz history.
I'm hoping for a few more musical Achttausender of est
On the second CD, it give some pieces of Viaticum tour. Those who appreciate this kind of music is certainly curious about the live versions and a couple of other songs and will not be disappointed.
