Performance and KI

The AddOn is worthwhile for fans of the series anyway but for the casual gamer can make it for new wind in the game.
The corresponding changes but was already adequately described in the other reviews and evaluates, so I see no need for this.

In my review I would like above all to the internal - generally define deal changes the game in my opinion and have been here not yet rated - so technical.

The reason why I love this game, is the complexity. The endless possibilities and combinations in the areas of tactics, diplomacy and trade structure and know always inspire anew. Unfortunately, it is precisely this very complexity that the AI ​​overwhelmed regularly. The AI ​​is - to put it mildly - often pretty stupid.

However, improvements have found their way with this AddOn also for that matter.

- Ranged units are less often sent to the front
- Injured units are often recalled and cured at a safe distance
- In attacks on towns enemy artillery is first turned off
- It is less common that the AI ​​declared for no reason and senseless wars - generally tempers appear to have been calmed down :)
- The behavior seems generally much Diplomatic
- The new features such as trading were super integrated. The AI ​​is and plunders. It looks real.

Nevertheless, it does not change the fact that the AI ​​has failed tactically still. It is, unfortunately, still no problem for example reside in mountain passes an entire army to defeat even yes. The AI ​​does not make any withdrawal or tried to steer clear of such sites or circumvent. They squandered completely pointless their entire army.
But a man on open ground is almost always able to defeat the AI, even if it is in the majority OR has a technological edge.

It also happens that the AI ​​fully explained without reason and after centuries of friendship war, squandered all units on my defense and then surrenders of its own accord by offering cities and wealth to be again be peace. Something destroyed the gameplay - but is thankfully extremely rare.

The AI ​​is based still a city next to the other - literally right next to each other, so you often have the problem in the advanced play, not to have to run over 20 large, but 60 very small Städe. It's annoying and it helps unfortunately only limited to this "modding" - ie the prescribed distance between Städen to increase, because in my experience, "confused" the AI ​​so that a level 8 AI at most corresponds to a 6. As before, the AI ​​is also based at strategically completely useless positions, such as on a single field land in the middle of the sea.

There is a lot happening in terms of improvements - but I would have liked more.
Here is probably no longer changed with upcoming patches much so that one of these "errors" halt should be aware of simple.

Unfortunately, it is also with Firaxis Games' Civilization 5: Brave New World "still not succeeded in 2013 to take advantage of a processor with more than one core sense. This really is not satisfactory in view of the required performance. I do not know how many of my less well-heeled friends, the game no longer play because the lap times simply take too long - and it would play and buy a contrario, this problem would not exist.

Nungut. The fact is, unfortunately nothing has been improved.

Enough whining: What can you do about the performance during round change to improve and what matters?
I asked myself these questions, but not a sufficient answer. Therefore, I have taken it into their own hands and tried. In addition I have reconfigured my computer several times: switched off processors exchanged Overclocked, underclocked, hard drives, overclocked graphics card, memory changed, played with the settings.

Then I have always charged the same savegame, to "Next Round" clicked to do something and at the end without 5x the average of all 5 lap times calculated to reduce the influence of accuracy here. You should ansich least 4GB of RAM have the game available - ie 4GB + what the operating system used.
I recommend 8GB RAM.

The hard drive does not matter.

The graphics card is - at least for the round change - also could not care less.

The graphic settings in the game (such as water effects or the animated view, if you speak with another people) have an influence on the lap time - regardless of the graphics card. Say: With reduced graphics settings you have a speed advantage, even if your graphics card is actually sufficient. The question whether it's worth everyone must clarify for themselves.

The number of processor cores is from 2 cores completely unimportant. Explanation: Windows and background programs such as music players, TeamSpeak or Steam just stop everything runs in the background required CPU performance. A core can take full advantage of Civilization. If you only have a core, to Civilization and Windwos + background programs share a core. This results in longer lap times. So I received before at least 2 cores.

The clock speed of the processor is absolutely crucial.
Specifically: The IPC-performance of the processor - so the performance per clock. Here are Intel processors preferable in any case. And then: The more GHz the faster the change round expires.
