Braun delivers in this embodiment despite charging contacts on the shaver (located on the exterior) no charging station, but only a power supply and a solid travel case with zipper. Such a case I find it too complicated, and it increases the volume too much. I would prefer a simple plastic cap to protect the shaving head, such as in older models of Braun. In the current model, there are no longer generally well unfortunately.
The shaving of the 9040s is - in particular for moisturizing the skin - good. I'm getting so within 6-8 minutes a smooth result. The shaving of the 9040s feels the relatively soft suspension of the shear elements on the skin according to soft. With respect to the Series 7 additional (blue colored) shear element also longer hair are recognized reliably. The device gently shaves, skin irritations did not occur to me.
Like other shaver from Braun is also the new Series 9 is not exactly quiet. The low-frequency hum can disturb sensitive ears - let me just put it this bathroom radio louder. The razor head vibrates quite strong. The irritated at first, but you get used to pretty quickly.
Cleaning is easy. One can release the cutting system with lateral pressure on the shaving head and then beat or rinse under running water. Already during shaving, a relatively large part of the stubble out of your mind, however fall out. This is a disadvantage if you want to roam around while shaving in the bathroom.
The advertised five-stage locking the shaving head has two problems. First, the push button is for the grip area of the thumb, so that releases the lock when shaving by pushing upwards slightly accidentally. Secondly, the whole moved at slightly firmer pressing the shaving head by itself, even without releasing the lock.
Also not a highlight is the long-hair trimmer. He has performed quite narrow and probably not designed for frequent use and accurate work. The lower, movable row of teeth is a good millimeter shorter than the fixed upper. This "bites", although they are not so easily to get into the skin, but it is difficult, flat-lying hairs. The curved shape is a matter of taste - in my view it unnecessarily difficult to cut clean contours. The housing of the trimmer is down quite thick at the edge, which impedes the view of the cutting edge.
The battery power of 9040s is very good - on a single charge to get well over a week from.
Conclusion
The Series 9 delivers 9040s in terms of shaving a decent performance, and the battery life is good. However, the equipment is lean to the current price of still more than two hundred euros, and the device affords too many weaknesses, such as the trimmer, or locking the shaving head. Therefore, there is no clear recommendation from me.
