9dBi are not much. Mathematically, if one has a (standard) antenna on the router has the 2dBi. This is replaced by the TP-Link with 9dBi. Thus you have the bottom line 7dBi more than the standard antenna. You then still draws 0.5 - from 1dBi for the cable loss has got some good 6 dBi over the standard antenna.
