I've been running ever NSA325 with two 3TB drives from WD (Red) and have transfer rates from my computer or other NAS on the NSA325 (writing) of well over 50MB / s! Very important to me because I put a lot Multimedi Akram back and forth.
Is of course a prerequisite for high data throughput that all affected network devices are in a Gigabit network !!: For the less tech savvy So if a 'normal' Router his own calls and there connects his computer and the NAS, can the copy count megabytes. A fairly inexpensive alternative offers (Gigabit) Switch, which can be connected to the router, all other Compuer and NAS etc. are then connected to the switch. So they can work with each other (without going through the router) with high data throughput.
Otherwise, I think the use of NAS quite simple. Well, I think the youtube upload. Since my Sohnemann there operates its own channel, he often invites Videos high (of course in HD) and takes (have only 1 Mbit Upload). Otherwise had to walk for hours during the upload of the computer. With the NSA325 simply pushes the video in a folder to be located before investing / entering and after a (definable) time the video is uploaded. Now only runs the NAS, not the computer. And this can also with flicker.
The creation of shares and user management is quite enough for me and even more comfortable than in the LinkStation.
I also have a Squeezebox in operation. According to the manual is also a Squeezebox Server running on the NSA325. That did not work on my Buffalo also.
Even for fans: Yes you can hear him, but he is quieter than I expected after reading the reviews. Therefore maybe not an immediate order together but listen once and then decide. I'm more sensitive to noise and fan can annoy me quickly. The NSA is in my living room next to the telly and not really bother me. I have to say that it runs only 8 to 10 hours a day as well. An access from the outside (the office, traveling) excites me at the moment rather less. But maybe soon my son :-(
So for the price of currently 90 EUR a thoroughly enjoyable package. Since I personally no longer ask me anything really annoying and the Price is Right -> 5 Stars!
