I have the app, like probably many others, charged for a stay abroad, because you can even navigate without a data connection. Unaware of this setting, I was out on Gran Canaria on deteriorating roads along ravines and slopes. If I have heard of such stories, I had always been a good laugh. But my good experience with Navigon products and my "cultural insecurity" (which road conditions applicable in a foreign country than normal?) Left me but the instructions from "here" to follow. As the "way" then eventually only of boulders was asked one naturally: Apply? As only? And you really want the long arduous journey back? Maybe it is indeed better again. An absolute nightmare. We were about to alert the rescue. However, there was in this remote spot, no power. After hours and already in the twilight then the return on fixed routes. Damage to the vehicle and a long lasting terror included. Not an isolated case: in other app stores report South vacationers of daring routes through the middle of Brazilian favelas.
Only two days later cleared with us - because of further alienating navigation tests - the mystery of the elusive pre-configuration on. The settings for the route guidance can not be reached from the main menu under "Settings". Sorry! You can change the setting only if you are in "Plan route" just on the screen. Since there is then a small cogs, behind which hide other settings.
After "dirt tracks" finally was active deselected:
The maps (in that I use offline mode) was not always up to date. The positioning was sometimes very slow (small winding streets etc.). If you have a forward-thinking passenger as navigator while, but you can work with it.
As a warning for all users, I can still only be one star! The app provider I have also contacted.
UPDATE: The app provider has now responded and found the default setting in this form completely in order. Reason: In many countries (. Eg in Finland, home of Nokia) it was not possible to calculate routes outside major cities when unpaved roads would not be included. Content does not provide me the answer: First, should be relatively easy classifiable as the importance of unpaved roads in different countries (where they are indispensable, where they are optional). And secondly, the route options could the user in the very first route planning even make a compulsory step, select the route options easier than before the main menu accessible.
