Philips Fidelio X1 vs Beyerdynamic DT770

Philips Fidelio X1 / 00 Premium hi-fi stereo headphones from quality leather with 50 mm neodymium drivers, black / brown / silver (Electronics)

Customer Review

After I had read me ausfürhlich into matter headphones, I decided to first for the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250Ohm. However, I was not quite satisfied with the audience, which is why I have to search alternative and with the Philips Fidelio X1] found a suitable one.
This comparison is intended to provide other users who are in the choice between the two headphones, a small decision support.

Processing / design / delivery:
Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250Ohm:
The DT770 is very simply held here but well made. The headphone fork is made of metal, the handset itself made of sturdy plastic. The ear pads are made of soft velor are easily replaced by spare parts. The headband has a leather cover (I think it is rather artificial leather) which is also Interchangeable. The headset has a 1.50 m long spiral cable that can be said to pull up to 3m length. When stretching the cable creates a lightweight train on headphones is a little uncomfortable in the long run. The cable has by default a 3.5 mm jack which is extended by a aufschreibbaren Adpter to 6.35mm. A small drawstring bag by the headphones can be transported is also included in Lierferumfang.

Philips Fidelio X1:
Compared with the DT770 the Fidelio is designed clearly noble, modern and striking. The processing is at the highest level. The headband is made of genuine calfskin, while the headband is made of a mesh material. At Philips, almost everything is made of metal and, in total, he just seems high. The cable has a length of 3m and can exchange information. By default, a 6.35mm connector is installed, operated by the adapter and 3.5mm jacks. This plug combination is thus somewhat clunky and is less suitable for mobile use.
However, since the cable is interchangeable, it stands to reason a little higher quality string, if necessary to take the same with 3.5 mm jack.
Small drawback for Philips there unlike the Beyerdynamic no spare parts supply and the ear pads made of soft material are not removable. A cable clip is also part of Aquatube.

Interim conclusion # 1: The Fidelio X1 plays in another class. The materials used make the DT770 look very old. Only the non-replaceable ear pads are a minor nuisance, but this round is clear to the Philips

Comfort:
Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250Ohm:
The soft velor of Beyerdynamic DT770 are very comfortable on the head. However, slightly higher by the hardness of the headband of pressure. This bothered me at the beginning barely, after 4-5 hours it is somewhat uncomfortable, also the ears are really warm here. In direct comparison to Fidelio, the DT770 feels like a vise on the head. The width adjustment on DT770 I find suboptimal solved. Pull out a targeted engagement or is only possible with a lot of tact. Quick is a step too far pulled or pushed.
The amount of ear pads is very neat with 6cm, to my ears, it would, however, be even more so as not to rest 3mm. After a long gestation period, it becomes uncomfortable. For smaller ears, there are, however, certainly not a problem. The DT770 seat in the overall rating good, but not very good.

Philips Fidelio X1:
The ear pads are made of soft fabric of Fidelio (minimal Harder than the DT770) and are pleasant on the skin, however, know that the DT770 better here to please. The flexible headband of listeners without Seat adjustment equal perfectly on any head. Despite the heavy weight I feel the X1 much less disruptive. He sedentary loose, not pressed and even for very long listening times (current best time without abstezen 8 hours) does not interfere with the headphones. Due to the low downforce but the headset slips when strong movements noticeable. The ears will indeed remain but slightly warmed in a direct comparison much cooler. The earcups are with 6.3mm height slightly larger, I would have still 1-2mm more desirable.

Interim conclusion # 2: When it comes to comfort the X1 can not hold a candle to the DT770. During the Beyerdynamic provides for long listening times for a set of warm ears and a little uncomfortable seat of the Philips not to notice. For the physically active outdoor use the X1 but is due to the low contact pressure not because it easily slips on his head.

Sound:
Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250Ohm:
The bathtub effect often described is the DT770 250Ohm clearly revealed to. The bass is very powerful and present, so that he at one or the other song covers the remaining frequencies and thereby easily remember the Bass Bomber by Dr. Dre. However, the bass remains, unlike the not-using design something higher clear, punchy but sometimes a little soggy. The depths go damn far down and press unique. The highs are like the bass about presence, act a little too pointed at long listening time and are somewhat uncomfortable. From the middle we need here not big talk that I missed entirely the DT770.
With angpasstem EQ (ups and downs easily gesenklt) headphones were much more pleasant. The stage is quite small so the location for games only with difficulty possible. He is by the boosted bass ungeignet for FPS, because the punchy lows completely drown out the rest of the sound (eg Footsteps).

Philips Fidelio X1:
Satter and really punchy bass of the middle and the defused heights leaves plenty of room, so can the X1 describe well. Although the not quite as far down comes as the DT770 and is not quite as punchy comes the Fidelio something crisp therefore. The bass is very precise and not nearly mushy. The stage is much larger and the localization in games is a treat. I can locate any opponent meter accuracy.
The head Hörerer plays more detail as the Beyerdynamic, this sounds a bit warmer but also to clear. In a direct comparison of the DT770 as by a handkerchief playing acts, although I would be without the X1 never noticed.

Interim Conclusion # 3: What is one big say, everything I did not like the DT770 makes the X1 more. Deep bass is the place for midrange and treble can. The latter are no longer as sharp and the Philips simply sounds at Round. Clear sound winner of Fidelio.

Noise isolation:
Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250Ohm:

The DT770 shields due to the construction, very good for mice from, so that neither the television or the bell is perceived doorstep when listening to music. The noise pollution of the environment adheres very strongly limited, so only at high Lautsärke some music penetrates dampened by mice. The own voice heard even when the headset is only mounted very subdued when music is playing you can hear yourself very quiet and dull. Interlocutor only move their lips and take a self as screamer was.

Philips Fidelio X1:
Without playback one music one hears with the Fidelio X1 on the ears really almost every Umgebungsgeräuch. Calls can be made easily. At moderate volume one hears his own voice still somewhat and a possible interlocutor is noticeable only as sound, but not the wording. Minimal more volume on the KH and the ambient noise is almost completely transferred. However, then also hear the people in the area what is being played just on the Fidelio X1 namely word by word. Although this is much quieter than you even in the headphones will notice it by the way undisturbed watching TV is for the girlfriend less in it.

Interim Conclusion # 3:
Coming from a closed Sennheiser PC350 headset I thought at first with a closed system to be better off, but I was wrong. The own voice is unbearable when Skype with the DT770. While the X1 lets a lot of music to the outside, but with sufficient volume he shields still acceptable from the outside world. For the use in public of the Fidelio X1 is not recommended, unless you may want something annoyed listeners have.

Conclusion:
The Fidelio X1 could for me every relevant category, often by far, for to decide why a decision for micht not hard a lot. Especially the wearing comfort and the true-present but not sounding bass, combined with beautiful mid-range and detail rich game makes the Fidelio X1 to supremum. The DT770 is not a bad listener, had me the comfort is not disturbed because of my big ears, perhaps I would have been happy with it and the matching EQ settings. Coming straight from the Sennheiser PC350 of Beyerdynamic, however, was already a gross increase, the Philips Fidelio sets up a gear and it must remain.

Greetings,
Chris
