Man on horseback (Paperback)

Customer Review

In Bolivia reinvented and completely mythical, Drieu La Rochelle, through the love of a cavalry lieutenant became dictator of a beautiful aristocrat and a semi-Indian dancer, describes all the major forces that vie for world domination for about two centuries: the Church under the guise of a rather unpleasant Jesuit and Masonry in the guise of a 'brother' even more detestable, the popular forces that are emerging and that man wants to drive a horse and guide and the old ruling classes, the aristocracy and the decadent bourgeoisie which amuck and try to float by intrigue and corruption. Drieu himself takes the stage with the character of Felipe, guitarist poet advisor to the man of action ...
Political and philosophical novel (references to Peronism and communism are very clear), this book is probably the most complete of the accursed writer. Shakespearean accents are many and striking. Allusions to Henri Bergson with delight fill the player. The beautiful style is close to that of Merimee, Cervantes or Stendhal. This book is a true masterpiece written by an exalted spirit and idealistic but also brilliant and skeptical. This reading of spring is almost enchanted and smarter than before.
Quotes:
"We must reach out to its enemies, it is not good to wait. Everything must be done openly and quickly."
"Men of action are enough men of thought and men of thought are worth only because of the embryo man of action they carry within them."
'There is a lot of action in the dream man dream of many in the man of action'.
