Pretty doorbell plate with some quirks!

So ... this doorbell plate we bought because it is priced far below the expensive designer models and still looked good in the pictures. Let us establish a model with camera of stainless steel in a few years, so we needed a pretty possible interim solution.
So we had the first problems already with the installation. The drilling was not a problem. The service line (regarding the connection of wires) is really big crap, even the electrician had problems with it. We unfortunately had to get after we with bell wires and the bell plate had no success with our trials.
When the plate was finally installed, it looked really nice from (and does it well yet :-))!
The first problems came the first big autumn rain. Apparently water enters inside and causes a continuous ringing (really great when it goes off in the middle of the night). This can only issue by turning off the fuse and only stops when the bell is completely dry. In other words, we had several days of rain at the bell for days out of service. Big CRAP !!!
I then tried to get some sort of shelter for this bell. No Chance. Ultimately, I have this thing completely disassembled and the water-permeable sites (unfortunately the name plate and the bell push) coated with transparent foil and sealed from the inside (with Tesa :-)). Otherwise it was not because there is no space for a millimeter or similar Silikom would have been, otherwise the plate attachment can not be firmly screwed. Sorry, now it will certainly be complicated :-).
Since then, the thing does not ring more rain !!!! But great quality is obviously different and I had the best bell returned immediately.
For a few weeks, we have also trouble with the bell push. The freezes when you press it and it will ring again without a break ... This can be from time to time fix for a few days, but annoying total.
I would buy this bell plate Not again. Is possibly. Recommended if your doorstep including ringing abbekommt no rain.
