I've bought the hot glue gun of Pattex for local handicrafts. The delivery had for almost 10 euros in addition to the glue gun and glue sticks 6 included, so you can start right away:
Simply glue stick pushed into the hot glue gun, connect it to the power outlet and wait 5-8 minutes until the adhesive is liquid and can be dosed on the hot glue gun.
The usage is really very simple and can also be used for larger children. The dosage is working properly, so that can be glued without major smut. I have thus been glued paper, plastics, wood and other materials. That worked wonderfully.

Conclusion:
I recommend further the hot glue gun Pattex of all for the hobby area 100%. Price-performance are simply good.
Toll I think that can be easily use cheap glue sticks.
