It is by reading the summary that it prompted me to buy the book. The author chose to transpose the famous Jane Austen novel "Pride and Prejudice" in the twentieth century. This is a more modern version, but the author has retained the English side of the story. Sure, this is not as well written as Jane Austen. But personally, I found that this novel was readable, funny, entertaining. Some fans will find that this is maybe a plagiarism of "Pride & Prejudice". (Teri Wilson is not the first to use this kind of process. (I refer to the novel by RĂ©gine Desforges "The Blue Bicycle" is, in my opinion, a plagiarism of "Gone With The Wind" by Margaret Mitchell)). They do not may like this version because the character of Elizabeth Bennet Elizabeth Scott alias is very different. As for the character of Darcy, I also find the charismatic but perhaps less gloomy than Jane Austen. We find almost the same characters as in Pride & Prejudice. Finally, the description of the country house of Donovan Darcy, Chadwicke, resembles a lot with the Pemberley Jane Austen. I think to enjoy this work in its entirety, we must stop comparing it to that of Jane Austen (although sometimes it is almost a replica) and view it from a different perspective, most current. Ultimately, I had a good time.
